Samsung CLP-300N - World’s smallest colour laser printer

The Samsung CLP-300n is the smallest and lightest colour laser printer in its class and it not hard to see why when you see it in the flesh. How the CLP-300n manages to be so compact has a lot to do with the fact that the Samsung CLP-300 toner cartridges are a different design to the usual Samsung toner cartridges. Instead of the normal blade shape they are small cyderical pots that slot neatly into the printer side by side and are easily accessed behind the front cover, which makes changing the printer cartridges very easy and with no mess whatsoever. Print quality is an important factor of a colour laser printer and although the Samsung CLP-300n is small its printer quality is excellent for all types of documents from plain text to high quality graphics. Print speed is a little less impressive however, monochrome documents are printed at a reasonable speed of 16ppm (pages per minute) but colour documents take four times as long with a speed of 4ppm. The small 150 sheet paper tray capacity is something else that makes the CLP-300n not best suited for heavy print cycles although it does have a surprisingly high monthly duty cycle of 24,200 pages. The CLP-300n has a built-in Ethernet card so it can be connected to a network and shared in a workgroup of PCs which is amazing for a budget printer at this price. Overall The Samsung CLP-300n seem to be a good bet as long as you don’t require a printer that can handle especially large print runs on a regular basis.
